An Online Business Plan

These days the use of technology has become a part and parcel of our daily life. no matter which field of life we belong to the use of computers is increasing day by day and it has made our lives a lot more easy and fast than before. But when it comes to the business field the use of computers is increasing day by day. The buying and selling of goods has become a lot more easier because of the modern computer technology.
In my last entry of my online journal i will mention some new and creative ideas to create an online business plan regarding a new setup that i am planning to start in the near futre. I have decided to open an outlet of interior decor items like wallpapers, curtains and furniture. Apart from my outlet i have also planned to carry out sales through the internet in order to boost up my profits. For this purpose i shall make a very attractive website and i shall display pictures of every single item that will be availabe in my outlet. apart from that i have decided to offer various options to my visitors regarding their room length, height etc. In this way the visitors to my site can easily identify their room measurements and can see a projection of how the desired item for example a sofa, curtain or a wallpaper will fit their required room dimensions. if the customers like it, they can place their order online and can make payments through credit cards. If they do not like the presently displayed item, they can leave it and move on to the next one. In this way the visitors will get an instant idea of how the desired item will actually look in their room.

i have also decided to advertise about my website on various social networking sites like facebook, twitter etc to generate a large number of visitors on my website.
This is just one great way of boosting up my sales. people not only from Pakistan but from around the globe can gain easy access to the products that my compny is offering.

CONCERTS ARE FUN!!!!!

Among the many festivities that LAHORE has to offer to its citizens and the visitors alike, its concerts occupy the top place on my list. Apart from Karachi, Lahore is famous throughout Pakistan for its loud and fun-filled concerts. Concerts are held throughout the winter and spring season in whole of the city, specially in schools and colleges.
Lahori youngsters are seen dancing to the beat of all the popular singers and bands of the country. Various singers like Atif Aslam, Ali Zafar, Noori, Strings tour this city much more than the others because of the enthusiastic crowd Lahore has to offer to them.
Various educational institutions are famous for their concerts because of the fun loving nature of Lahoris. these inculde Kinniard College, LGS, Fast etc. The youngsters show a spirit full of fun and love and that is what makes this city so special and fun. In other words Lahore is all about MASTI, MAZA and ENJOY!!!!!

People are celebrating the Sensational win of Pakistan,,in Lahore

20 20 WORLD CUP WIN CELEBRATIONS

People were thwarted and gloomy. They had nothing to look forward to. All the threats from Taliban, daily bombings and suicide attacks had stolen all the laughter and smiles from the faces of Pakistanis. In this crucial time, Pakistani Cricket team has made a remarkable effort to bring back those smiles even if that is just for a single day or two. Pakistani people have smiled for real after quite a long time.

The victory of Pakistani Cricket Team in the twenty-20 world cup has made Pakistanis very proud. Such victories are important for a country because they make your identity all over the world. Now the people across the world know that this green and white flag belongs to a country and that country is Pakistan.

It is an incredible feeling to see people on roads dancing and enjoying themselves on the triumph of their cricket team. People were seen distributing sweets, dancing on the beats of dhol. Pakistan has won the world cup after a very long time. The last cup we got was in 1992 and now we have won the cup back after 17 years. This victory has cheered all the Pakistanis and today all the Pakistanis are very proud of their country and their cricket team.

It was really pleasing to see some good news on television otherwise it had always been disgusting politics or the brutal killings of the innocent. The people of Pakistan were desperate to celebrate some occasion and thank God, Allah bestowed them with a reason to celebrate.

All we need now is to pray that Allah bring our country out of crisis, free our land from Taliban, improve the economy of our country and grant us with some true leaders, Ameen

PARKS AND GARDENS

Lahore is known as the City of Gardens. There were many gardens in Lahore during the Mughal era, and although some have since been destroyed, many have still survived. The Shalimar Gardens were laid out during the reign of Shah Jahan and were designed to mimic the Islamic paradise of the afterlife described in the Quran.. The gardens follow the familiar Charbagh model (four squares) with three descending terraces. The Lawrence Gardens were established in 1862 and were originally named after Sir John Lawrence, late 19th century British Viceroy to India. The gardens were organized in an area covering 112 acres (0.5 km2). The many other gardens and parks in the city include Hazuri Bagh, Iqbal Park, Mochi Bagh, Gulshan Iqbal Park, Model Town Park, Race Course Park, Nasir Bagh Lahore, Jallo Park, Wild Life Park, and Changa Manga, an artificial forest near Lahore in the Kasur district. One examples includes the Bagh-e-Jinnah which is a botanical garden situated on 141 acres (0.57 km2) and it houses entertainment and sports facilities as well as a library.

FOOD AND FUN

Lahoris are known for their love of food and eating. While Lahore has a great many traditional and modern restaurants, in recent years Westernf fast food chains, such as McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Domino's Pizza, Subway Sandwiches, Dunkin Donuts, Nando's and Kentucky Fried Chicken have appeared all over the city. Recently the food streets in the historic locales of Lahore (Gawalmandi and Anarkali) have attracted tourists. Food streets have undergone restorations and are cordoned off in the evenings for pedestrian traffic only; numerous cafés serve local delicacies under the lights and balconies of restored havelois (traditional residential dwellings). Some of the trendiest restaurants in Lahore are concentrated on the M M Alam Road Road in Gulberg. Here, dozens of high-class culinary outlets, ranging from Western franchises to traditional, ethnic, or theme restaurants, attract all classes of Lahore's citizens. New restaurants are constantly opening, and the business is extremely competitive. Many boisterous restaurants of Lahore are open late into the night. One of Lahore's unique café restaurants is "Coocoo's Den", located in the old city just behind the Badshahi Mosque and Lahore Fort at the edge of Lahore's red light district. The restaurant is housed in a 300-year-old Kothi-style dwelling of a famous artist and was once a brothel. At different times in the life of this property, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, and Muslim families have owned it. Another famous Lahore landmark is the Pak Tea House in Anarkali, long a favoured haunt of intellectuals and artists.

Lahore now the most polluted city in Pakistan?

As i discussed in my first blog that apart from all the good stuff about my city i shall also discuss my city's probems.
Today i read an article in the paper which was really very depressing to me, so i thought to share it with my readers in order to generate awareness abouth the problem of pollution in this beautiful city of ours.
A few snatches of that article are as under:

So much for “development”, so much for the overpasses, the underpasses, the Foodstreets, Jashn-e-Baharan, the Lahore Road, Rehabilitation Project, all of the PHA’s many “efforts”, beautification and so on. So much for it. Lahore is now the most polluted city in Pakistan. Surely someone should accept the fact that the medicine is killing the patient.
Rapidly increasing industrialization and commercialisation has turned the provincial metropolis — once known as the City of Gardens — into one of the most polluted cities in the country.
Even residential localities are not safe from increasing trends of commercialization and industrialization because many industrial zones, which were established some years ago outside the city, are now situated right in middle of the City.
According to a rough estimate, over 700 industrial units including a major chunk of steel-related industries are causing serious environmental hazards especially noise and air pollution in various localities of Northern Lahore. Majority of these industrial units are operating in residential localities posing serious threat to human life.
Besides residential areas, a good number of industrial and commercial ventures are operating around historical monuments i.e. Shalimar Garden, Lahore Fort and Badshahi Mosque. The Environment Department of the CDGL had already served notices to many of these ventures but in vain.
Sources in the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) revealed that as per Pakistan Environmental Protection Act, 1997 all industrial units i.e. cottage or large are supposed to obtain NOCs from the EPD but over 70 per cent industrial units operating in the city do not bother to fulfil this legal formality.
On the other hand, majority of citizens have appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to pay attention on this vital and very important issue due to which the health of majority of the city residents is at stake. They also demanded immediate categorization of industrial, commercial and residential localities in the city, saying all industrial units should be shifted to industrial zones outside the city.

The above article clearly gives us the true picture of the grim reality of our city. We as a nation can make this stop from getting worse by making contributions on part of every citizen. I think we really do owe this much to our city.

The above mentioned article has been taken from THE NEWS of 24 september, 2009.

This blog will post stories of Lahore - its past, present and visions for its future in the vain hope that there are some who will read and think and then act.

"Late have I loved you, beauty so old and so new…"

Born in 354, St. Augustine was before Islam and here utters words that speak well to us as Muslims. It is rare that I quote a non-Muslim figure on this blog, but Allah indeed puts beauty on the lips of whomsoever He wills.

HISTORY OF MY CITY

A legend, based on oral traditions, states that Lahore, called Lavapuri(City of Lava in Sanskrit) in ancient times, was founded by Prince Lava, the son of Rama.
The origins of Lahore are shrouded in the mists of antiquity but Lahore is undoubtedly ancient. Legend has it that it was founded about 4,000 years ago. Historically, it has been proved that Lahore is at least 2,000 years old.
From 1524 to 1752, Lahore was part of the Mughal Empire, and from 1584 to 1598, under the emperors AKBAR and JAHANGIR, the city served as its capital. Lahore reached a peak of architectural glory during the rule of the Mughals, many of whose buildings and gardens have survived the ravages of time. Lahore's reputation for beauty fascinated the English poet JOHN MILTON, who wrote "Agra and Lahore, the Seat of the Great Mughal" in 1670.During this time, the massive Lahore Fort was built.
After that this city remained under SIKH RULE and then went under the BRITISH RULE. In 1947, PAKISTAN was achieved as a separate homeland for the muslims of the subcontinent and LAHORE became the capital of the PUNJAB PROVINCE.
